About the job
Do you want to work in geriatric psychiatry not only clinically but also take on responsibility and actively lead a ward? Do you see your professional future in a senior role - with the prospect of a chief physician position? And are you looking for an environment that enables development while providing stability?
You will work in a large psychiatric institution in north-west Switzerland, close to the German border. The facility is one of the leading providers in the region and offers a broad spectrum of psychiatric care forms - inpatient, outpatient, day hospital, and outreach.
Currently, there are several specialised inpatient units in the field of geriatric psychiatry. The advertised position takes responsibility for an acute ward within this area and is simultaneously part of a structured medical leadership team.
Collaboration within the clinic is strongly interdisciplinary. Nursing, psychology, social services, and medical staff work closely together - with regular meetings and clearly coordinated processes. The working environment and cooperation with the chief physician - an experienced and respected leader who actively promotes development - are particularly praised.
Your responsibilities:
- Overall medical-therapeutic responsibility for a geriatric psychiatric acute ward
- Leadership and training of assistant physicians
- Treatment of complex psychiatric disorders in older age, often with somatic comorbidities
- Close collaboration with psychology, nursing, social services, and other specialist areas
- Active participation in shaping and further developing the ward (conceptually and organisationally)
- Resource planning and coordination of processes
- Cooperation with external partners such as nursing homes, referrers, and other institutions
- Participation in the senior physician on-call service
Your competencies:

- Integration into a larger medical network with clear structures and development paths
Further advantages
- Transparent and reliable salary development
- 25 days holiday plus 5 additional days as compensation for on-call duties
- Additional leave days depending on age and years of service
- Clear and structured organisation with stable framework conditions
- Collegial environment with very good interdisciplinary cooperation
- Opportunity to take on medical, organisational, and strategic responsibility
- Long-term professional perspective within an established institution
