Without Chemicals
Chemical treatment of the water with chlorine or ozone is not necessary in Zofingen. Thanks to its purity, we can supply the groundwater directly into the network without treatment. The spring water is only treated with ultraviolet light (UV light) and retains its natural taste. The basic mechanism of the process was discovered in the 19th century: the UV radiation from the sun kills germs in the water. Modern UV lamps simulate this natural process.
