Supervisor / Visitor Services Attendant - fixed-term 80 - 100%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measures enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of seven main departments of JuWe. With 399 places, JVA Pöschwies is the largest closed correctional facility for men in Switzerland. It fulfils a central state function and, according to legal mandate, is responsible for the resocialisation of incarcerated persons and the protection of the public.
For our visitor services, we are looking for a committed, reliable and socially competent individual to support us as a temporary assistant for one year, starting immediately.
This is your field of activity
- You supervise and organise the visitor area including the associated infrastructure and ensure the smooth running of visits
- You coordinate and manage the visit quotas of incarcerated persons
- You process applications for visits by incarcerated persons and take on administrative tasks, such as documenting exceptional incidents
- As the first point of contact in visitor services, you competently assist incarcerated persons, visitors as well as internal and external partners – personally, by phone or in writing
- If necessary, you support other areas, especially in the entrance zone
What you bring
- You have a federal vocational certificate, a (specialist) baccalaureate, a specialised middle school certificate or an equivalent qualification
- You communicate confidently in German, both orally and in writing, and ideally bring additional language skills
- You are proficient in using the MS Office suite
- You understand how to consciously and professionally manage closeness and distance in dealing with incarcerated persons, and you impress with your high social competence and assertiveness
- You are mentally and physically resilient and flexible regarding irregular working hours (including weekend and public holiday duties)
- You have an impeccable record (no entries in the criminal and debt registers) and are at least 25 years old
