On Saturday, 28 February 2026, the altar server service Servire – serving together, with heart at the altar, with joy in faith – was able to experience a special church tour in our parish church St. Verena.

Eight altar servers and five accompanying persons from the core team were present – ready to embark together on a journey of faith.

It soon became clear: This afternoon would be more than a tour. It became a spiritual experience space in which we rediscovered our church space – not only with our eyes but with our hearts.

Entering the sacred space

Right at the beginning in the entrance area, we felt that every church has a threshold: a moment of transition from everyday life into the presence of God. The sign of the cross with holy water reminded us of our own baptism – of God’s promise: "You are my beloved child."

Places that tell of God

At various stations, we deepened the meaning of our liturgical places:

• The ambo, where God’s word comes alive.

• The tabernacle, a sign of the abiding presence of Christ.

• The baptismal font, source of new life.

In child-friendly conversations, the altar servers discovered that these places are not simply church furniture but signs of God’s closeness.

The altar – heart of the church

The highlight was the shared pause at the altar.

Here we were able to experience what Jesus gives us: community, bread of life, connection beyond all boundaries.

By sharing bread and juice, it became tangible: faith is relationship. Community. Life.

The crowning moment: Renewal of baptism

At the end, we were able to participate in the service whose central message was the "renewal of baptism."

Our parish leader, Deacon Bruno Gut Fuchs, called on us in his sermon to continually rediscover our baptismal vocation and consciously say yes to God – in everyday life, in service, and in fellowship.

This moment connected our tour with the core of our faith: We are baptised, sent, beloved.

Our spiritual conclusion

What we experienced that afternoon was far more than knowledge about architecture or history.

It was an immersion into the mystery of the church – as a place where God touches us, gathers us, and sends us into the world.

We sincerely thank all children and accompanying persons for their participation.

And we invite all young people of our parish to discover our annual activities and experience how faith brings joy and community.
