Team Leader Social Pedagogy

Leadership: You lead a team of social pedagogues and trainees and bear the personnel, organisational, financial and professional responsibility. Together with the management team, you shape the strategic development of the institution.

Residential Group: Together with your team, you care for 8 children and young people aged 6 to 16 in the residential group. You accompany and support the children and young people in their daily lives.

Key Person: Together with your team, you focus on the needs of the children and create optimal conditions for their development. You are also responsible for the social pedagogical daily routine within the key person system.

Collaboration: You maintain regular and open communication with the management team and the institution's leadership. Together you develop goals and contribute to the continuous development of the institution.

Care Situation: You are in active exchange with parents, relatives and referral agencies. In challenging situations, you make solution-oriented decisions together with the team and always act in the best interests of the child.

Experience: You have several years of professional experience in residential child and youth work and have already gained leadership experience. Willingness to work night, Sunday and public holiday shifts completes your profile.

Personality: You are an open and connecting personality who radiates joy and confidence. Even in challenging and conflict-ridden situations, you remain calm and communicate appropriately, factually and on an equal footing.

Education: You have a recognised degree in social pedagogy FH/HF. Ideally, you have completed training as a practical instructor or already further training as a team leader.

Language: You have confident German language skills, both spoken and written.

The Youth, Family and Sport division of the Department of Education Basel-Stadt covers a wide range of topics around childcare, child and youth welfare, early support and sport. It informs and supports children, young people and those involved in education and advocates for high-quality public and private services. Promoting mass sport and physical activity, both in clubs and privately, is also a central task. These activities directly benefit many people in Basel: from children to parents to sports enthusiasts.

As an institution of the Department of Education Basel-Stadt, the Boarding School Gute Herberge in Riehen supports children and young people with special educational and developmental needs. In five residential groups, we create a safe living environment that enables development, participation and perspectives. Together with families, we design individual development paths. Reliable relationships, key person work and a resource-oriented approach characterise our actions. Our boarding school is open 365 days a year and is excellently accessible thanks to its location in Riehen.
