i2L Research is a leading provider of scientific services and technical support to the pest control & agrochemical industry. We are excited to advertise for the position of a Laboratory Technician to join our small team of research scientists in Cardiff.
The role will involve:
The successful applicant will join as a Laboratory Technician, providing key support to our team of Scientists & Entomologists. It is expected that the Laboratory Technician will make a significant contribution to the running of trials to evaluate the efficacy of public health and agrochemical pest control products. The ideal candidate will be a Biology or Life science Graduate, or somebody with a keen interest to pursue a career in Entomology / insect research.
Your Responsibilities:
- Maintenance of live insect cultures (flies, ants, cockroaches, moths, beetles, aphids etc..)
- Supporting the set up and running of biological trials
- Maintenance and calibration of Laboratory instruments
- Preparation of study materials, equipment and test treatments
- Maintaining study records
- Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) & Study Protocols
- Operating within GLP framework (Good Laboratory Practice)
- Cleaning of laboratory areas and general housekeeping
Your Profile:
- A degree in a relevant scientific field Biology, Life sciences (or related field) or work-gained experience
- Experience of working with insects and/or insect rearing
- A good level of computer literacy is expected (Excel, MS packages)
- Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to self-manage
- UK driving license is preferred but not essential
Additional Information:
Place of work: i2L Research, Unit 9-12 Capital Business Park, Cardiff CF3 2PX
Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week (some flexible working is permitted)
Duration: Permanent, subject to a 3-month Probation period
This position does not allow for remote working.
