About the job
The cantonal police, with its approximately 4000 employees, takes responsibility for safety in the canton. For our traffic police special department, Traffic Orders Service, in Zurich, we are looking for a
Traffic Engineer 80 - 100%
Your area of responsibility
- Identifying hazardous locations in road traffic (BSM, RSI), conducting traffic engineering investigations according to VSS standards, and developing measures and concepts for the sustainable improvement of traffic safety
- Reviewing traffic orders, traffic concepts, and road construction projects regarding legal compliance, traffic safety, and traffic planning requirements
- Writing technically sound statements, orders, expert reports, and concepts on traffic-related issues as well as on political and legal proposals
- Representing the traffic police in expert committees and coordinating cooperation with cities, municipalities, federal and cantonal authorities, engineering offices, and other partner organisations
- Conducting traffic analyses, traffic counts, and accident evaluations, creating complex evaluations in ASTRANA/VUGIS, and preparing and publishing geoinformation
- Contributing to the further development of traffic safety, supporting traffic safety campaigns, participating in the introduction and training of employees, and taking on other specialist tasks within the main traffic police department
Your profile
- Swiss Bachelor’s degree in traffic engineering, traffic engineering sciences, or a comparable field; alternatively, for foreign Bachelor’s degrees: several years of professional experience in Switzerland in the field of traffic engineering
- Further training as a CAS traffic safety expert or willingness to complete this
- Advantageous are training or experience with ASTRANA, VUGIS, or the federal infrastructure safety instruments (ISSI)
- Very good German skills in spoken and written form as well as good English skills
- Confident use of Microsoft 365; knowledge of ArcGIS and database applications is an advantage
- Driving licence category B
- Impeccable character
