The Vaccinology Centre manages the vaccines for patients hospitalised or followed up at the HUG. To this end, it works closely with all other HUG departments, such as the infectious diseases, haematology, transplantation, tropical and humanitarian medicine, general paediatrics services, as well as the vaccinology laboratory. The objective is to ensure an optimal care pathway regardless of the department receiving the patients, to offer adapted vaccination schedules, to strengthen nursing and medical expertise, and to promote research in vaccinology. The centre is involved in various clinical and translational research activities, in cooperation with the University of Geneva and different departments within the HUG.
This position is under the direct supervision of a chief or deputy chief clinical physician.
Job Description
You actively participate in the vaccinological care of adult and paediatric patients, particularly immunosuppressed individuals followed at the HUG. In this capacity, you conduct comprehensive vaccination assessments, ensure necessary catch-ups, organise follow-ups, and ensure the transmission of relevant information to private practitioners.
Your activity includes approximately 100 annual consultations in the presence of hospitalised patients, notably in the context of pre- and post-transplant follow-ups, as well as around 300 consultations based on files. You actively participate in the interpretation of vaccine serologies in connection with the Vaccinology Laboratory, representing about 6,000 expert analyses per year. This sustained activity allows you to develop in-depth expertise in clinical vaccinology and in the care of patients presenting with various underlying pathologies.
You are also called upon to respond promptly to vaccinological consultation requests for the entire adult patient population of the University Hospitals of Geneva, proposing adapted diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic strategies, under the supervision of the medical hierarchy.
In collaboration with the medical team, you contribute to the coordination and regular updating of protocols and documents related to vaccinological care at the HUG.
You work in a multidisciplinary and translational research environment that fosters the exchange of skills and continuous knowledge development.
Qualifications
You hold a medical degree or have training deemed equivalent by the Medical Professions Commission (MEBEKO).
For non-French speakers, a C1 level in spoken and written French is required.
You have good knowledge of internal medicine.
You demonstrate excellent communication skills within a multidisciplinary team and with patients. You are autonomous, flexible, and committed.
You have a curious, involved personality and appreciate teamwork.
