The Migration Office of the Canton of Zurich operates daily in the exciting political environment of all migration issues and the resulting tasks. It is responsible for the enforcement of Swiss foreigner and asylum law, the Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons between Switzerland and the EU and EFTA states, as well as the Schengen and Dublin agreements.
For the Immigration/FZA department, we are looking for a specialist 80 - 100% as a "floater" starting April 1, 2026, or by agreement.
Your tasks
You are responsible, within the framework of the applicable regulations, for the independent processing of applications for the issuance of foreigner permits as well as residence-terminating measures. You review the documents of the applicants, issue permits, draft orders, and handle various correspondence. You appreciate written contact with applicants, their legal representatives, and authorities from the federal government, cantons, and municipalities in German.
As a "floater," you perform these tasks in close exchange with the department management and your supervisor. Accordingly, you enjoy active dialogue and collaboration with different stakeholders. You act independently and calmly.
Your profile
For this demanding and versatile role, we require at least a commercial apprenticeship (commercial clerk EFZ) and several years of professional experience or a bachelor's degree. You have a good general education combined with sensitivity to delicate issues and an eye for detail. You are skilled in written expression and interested in legal questions as well as in the structured drafting of complex decisions. In addition, you convince through flexibility, high commitment, and resilience. Pleasant manners, a sense of collegial cooperation, and a touch of humor complete your profile. You also hold Swiss citizenship.
