Starting immediately or by arrangement (40 - 100%)
The Department of Public Health (DPH) at the University of Basel is seeking immediately or by arrangement a scientific employee for the establishment of the newly founded Core Service Implementation Science. The position can be filled alone at 80-100% or in job sharing with at least 40% per person. It is limited to 9 months. If the project is positively evaluated, there is the prospect of taking over the management of the Core Facility.
The DPH of the Medical Faculty at the University of Basel aims to promote the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities, based on local, national, and global needs. Research groups within the DPH develop, implement, and evaluate practical interventions in interdisciplinary teams to provide independent scientific findings that have maximum impact at all decision-making levels. With the goal of promoting scientific research that makes a difference (science to impact), the department also offers services, especially in the areas of health economics and implementation science. These services are available both to various units of the University of Basel and other institutions, particularly through established academy-practice partnerships, such as with hospitals, nursing facilities, and health authorities.
Your Tasks
- You develop the conceptual and organizational foundation for the new Core Service Implementation Science at the Department of Public Health.
- You conduct a systematic context, needs, and stakeholder analysis and identify opportunities, needs, and existing resources within the department and beyond.
- Based on these analyses, you develop the operational concept for the Core Service (mandate, services, teaching, processes, governance structure).
- You establish the basis for a network with internal (e.g., DSBG, DKF) and external (e.g., Pharma / Biotech / Health Policy BS/BL) partners.
- You work closely with the department management and the DPH research group leaders.
Your Profile
- PhD or equivalent qualification in Public Health, Nursing Science, Medicine, Psychology, Health Sciences.
- Proven knowledge and research experience in Implementation Science, Translational Science, or Health Services Research.
- Solid methodological expertise in qualitative and quantitative analysis methods.
- Experience in project management, organizational development, or building scientific structures.
- Excellent communication and cooperation skills, combined with analytical thinking, conceptual strength, and initiative.
- Very good English skills and good German skills in spoken and written form are essential.
- Familiarity with the Swiss higher education landscape is an advantage.
