About the job
With Tag4Farm, the tedious search for the herd is a thing of the past: animals during summer grazing are equipped with a so-called TAG, and their position is regularly transmitted via GPS. Authorised persons can thus track the location of their animals at any time on their smartphone using the Tag4Farm app: clearly visible on a proven Swisstopo map. In addition, important locations such as watering places, danger spots, or depots can be entered in the app and shared, for example, with the alpine staff. Also, predefined persons receive a notification thanks to intelligent alarms if unusual activities are detected in the herd.
Securely informed even without mobile network
Tag4Farm is suitable for all grazing animals and all types of pasture, even in areas with poor or no mobile network coverage. It is sufficient to attach a TAG to the collar of part of the herd: the TAG is waterproof and shockproof and has an independent power supply with a solar panel – no battery replacement is necessary. The position of each animal is determined several times a day using GPS/satellite navigation. Different transmission intervals provide a constantly updated picture of the herd's location.
More safety in case of usage conflicts
Alpine farmers have the option to share the location of their animals with traffic offices, hotels, and guests. Hikers, dog owners, bikers, and other guests can thus already inform themselves about the location of summer-grazed animals from the valley and possibly adjust their route planning. Informed and sensitised guests better assess risks, so Tag4Farm promotes the safety of people and animals.
