About the job
The opportunity
The System and Automation team at the Swiss research center is looking for an intern with expertise in power system engineering and experience in applying AI/ML to power system topics to contribute to cutting‑edge developments that support real‑time monitoring, analysis, and decision-making in modern grids. You will interact with dynamic and multidisciplinary teams that will supervise and guide the project.
If you have a strong technical background, motivation to develop innovative solutions, and you are goal-oriented, this is your opportunity to contribute to a stronger and more sustainable energy future. The duration of the internship is six months.
How you’ll make an impact

Contribute to research activities on advanced monitoring and data‑driven analysis of power system dynamics

Participate in the development of AI/ML and active‑learning workflows, including methodologies for handling, interpreting, and leveraging large‑scale grid data

Develop and implement data‑driven methods for detecting and interpreting dynamic events in the grid

Disseminate and report your results with the teams, write technical documentation, propose creative and efficient solutions towards industrial implementation
Your background

Enrolled in an MSc program in Power System Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, or a related field

Solid background in power systems and/or AI/ML

Experience in software development in Python, Matlab or C/C++ is strongly appreciated

Excellent communication skills, team player attitude, initiative, and creativity

Fluency in English, written and spoken
