Communications Manager
To successfully position the initiatives, we are immediately seeking a Communications Manager for the Empa communications team.
Currently, various major projects are underway in the energy/climate sector:The Climate Solutions Hub (CSH) of Empa and Eawag aims to scale climate-relevant mitigation and adaptation solutions and anchor them more quickly in business, society, and politics. At ACHIEVE , a SWEET project led by Empa, the goal is to concretise and scale solutions for hard-to-avoid emissions. And reFuel.ch , another SWEET project led by Empa, develops robust and practical ways to introduce sustainable fuels and platform chemicals to the market and into the Swiss energy system.
(Allocation: CSH 60% / ACHIEVE &reFuel.cheach 20%)
- Development and implementation of a coherent communication strategy in close collaboration with the respective project management teams (CSH, ACHIEVE)
- Editing news, background articles, and one-pagers as well as producing multimedia content (video, image, text) for cross-channel communication and public relations and to position the respective projects according to their mission (e.g. CSH asa new, strategically relevant hub within the ETH domain)
- Preparation of scientific content into clear, understandable messages for various target groups
- Maintenance of the respective project websites (e.g. news, events, etc.)
- Planning, implementation, andfurther developmentof social media activities (especially LinkedIn) to increase visibility, reach, and engagement of the projects
- Analysis & optimisation: Evaluation of communication activities (e.g. web analytics, social media KPIs, newsletter metrics) and derivation and implementation of optimisation measures to increase reach, relevance, and impact
- Planning, creation, and distribution of an external newsletter to regularly inform stakeholders, partners, and interested parties.
- Active participation in consortium-internal communication planning and implementation as well as development and management of consortium-internal communication channels and formats (e.g. internal newsletters to promote project understanding, networking, and internal exchange)
- Strategic further development of CSH (Phase 2): Further development of the communication concept focusing on acquiring new partners and projects as well as building and maintaining a CSH community (community management) and designing event series
- University degree in communication, marketing, environmental sciences or similar.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in science/innovation/corporate communication, especially in digital communication includingweb editing/CMS, SEO and operational management of social media channels (especially LinkedIn)
- Excellent editorial skills (DE & EN), experience writing for various formats (web, newsletter, etc.) andability toprepare complex technical content precisely, understandably, and target-group appropriately
- In-depth understanding of scientific topics in the climate and sustainability sector
- Experience with digital analytics tools (e.g. LinkedIn & web analytics, newsletter tools) and deriving data-based recommendations
- Understanding of political communication is an advantage
- Enjoyment ofinterdisciplinarycollaboration with researchers from different fields
- Highmotivation,reliability,initiative, and project management skills
- Strategic thinking, structured, independent working style and conceptual strength
- Creative in storytelling, yet careful and precise in implementation
- Team player and confident appearance towards internal and external stakeholders
