The University Service of Psychiatry of Advanced Age (SUPAA) is opening a senior doctor position to strengthen its mobile psychiatry team for advanced age (EMPAA) with a workload between 80% and 100% from 01.11.2026 or as agreed. You will work in the Lausanne region and its surroundings.

Context
The University Hospital Centre of Vaud (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research and education.
The Department of Psychiatry consists of 13 services addressing the three stages of life.
Led by Professor Armin von Gunten, SUPAA is a specialised service with the mission to ensure care, teaching and research in the field of psychiatry of the elderly. It has thus developed specialised hospital and outpatient structures in which you will have the opportunity to work. The service is present in the Centre (Lausanne and Prilly), North (Yverdon-les-Bains) and West (Prangins) sectors.
The mobile team offers second-line services guaranteed by a psychiatrist, a senior registrar and psychiatric nurses. It cares for patients presenting acute or subacute psychiatric issues of advanced age.
It intervenes at home or in nursing homes, at the request of the attending physician or care teams, within 12 to 24 hours during working days. These interventions last a maximum of one month.
Mission
- You will be the medical lead of the mobile psychiatry team for advanced age and will intervene at patients’ homes and in medico-social establishments
- You will be responsible for specific cases linked to SUPAA
- You will coordinate and supervise the work of senior registrars and assistant doctors
- You will manage the activity of the multidisciplinary team composed of 3 nurses, an advanced practice nurse (APN) and a head nurse of a care unit
- You will ensure the transmission of information and coordination of involved third parties (relatives, therapeutic representatives, external network)
- You will actively participate in the internal medical training of the service
- You will have the opportunity to participate in research activities within the service and in collaboration with other units and/or to lead a project.
Profile
For appointment as hospital doctor:
- You hold a Federal Medical Diploma (or a recognised MEBEKO title mandatory)
- You hold an FMH specialist diploma in psychiatry and psychotherapy or equivalent (foreign title with mandatory MEBEKO recognition) and a
- Specialisation in psychiatry of the elderly
- You may hold an MD or PhD degree
- You have experience in a position of responsibility, with team leadership, in psychiatry of the elderly
For appointment as associate doctor:
- You hold a Federal Medical Diploma (or a recognised MEBEKO title mandatory)
- You hold an FMH specialist diploma in psychiatry and psychotherapy or equivalent (foreign title with mandatory MEBEKO recognition) and a
- Specialisation in psychiatry of the elderly
- You hold - or are in the process of obtaining - an FMH diploma in psychiatry and psychotherapy of the elderly (SGAP-SPPA)
- You hold an MD or PhD degree recognised by the FBM
- You have at least two years of successful clinical experience in a position of responsibility, with team leadership, in psychiatry of advanced age
For both levels of function:
- You have a good command of French (B2 level certified for non-French speakers), good knowledge of German and English is an additional asset
- You have an interest, and preferably an established track record, in research, which is an advantage
- You enjoy working in a network, have management skills, a sense of commitment, responsibility, analytical and synthesis skills as well as excellent organisational and communication skills.
