Job Description
The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva, recognised for its enriching multicultural dynamism, actively contributes to its missions of teaching, research and collaboration with the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG).
The Virology Laboratory, led by Prof. Caroline Tapparel (Department of Microbiology and Molecular Medicine, Faculty of Medicine), is looking to strengthen its team by recruiting a:
Laboratory Technician 1 (50 to 80%)
The main tasks are as follows:
- Provide technical support to laboratory members in their research projects.
- Master and perform the main techniques of virology, molecular biology and histology, notably viral infection, titration, RT-qPCR and immunohistochemistry (IHC).
- Prepare and manage viral stocks (production, titration, inactivation and purification).
- Participate in the development, optimisation and implementation of experimental protocols.
- Ensure the daily management of the laboratory: orders, preparation of solutions and reagents, stock management and updating procedures.
Required Title and Skills
- Technician diploma (CFC or equivalent).
- Proficiency in French and English (A2).
- Good knowledge of office tools and standard laboratory techniques.
- Possession of module one for animal experimentation is a plus.
- Rigor, precision, motivation and positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently while integrating into a team. The position also involves working alone in the laboratory.
