Your Mission
As our Bioinformatics Engineer, you will lead the daily operations of the Pipeline Integration task force. This critical role supports the CI/CD process by integrating various analytical solutions into SOPHiA DDM, enabling the delivery of precision diagnostics at scale. (Please note: this position does not involve machine learning development.)
The value you bring
- Coordinate and lead the activities of the cross-functional Pipeline Integration task force during each release cycle. This includes:
- Conducting the final review of Data Science developments
- Approving merge requests and stabilizing branches
- Testing the package containing all pipelines available in SOPHiA DDM
- Act as the primary point of contact for the Data Science department, managing coordination and communication with other departments involved in the release process.
- Drive projects to improve the efficiency of release operations by optimizing existing processes or creating new ones.
- Contribute hands-on to coding tasks aimed at enhancing release operations.
Requirements
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or any related field with relevant industry or postdoctoral experience in Bioinformatic Software development.
- Proficient in Python, Git, and Bash.
- Proficiency in SQL , C++ or R is a plus.
- Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments, bioinformatics workflows, parallelization, and containerization (e.g., Docker).
- Strong grasp of modern software development practices, including CI/CD, unit testing, code reviews, and reproducible research principles.
- Experience with NGS data analysis is a plus
- Strong project leadership and cross-functional coordination skills, with a proven ability to drive complex projects independently.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills in a multicultural and interdisciplinary environment.
- Willingness to be coached and learn about the specific software development life cycle at SOPHiA GENETICS.
- Ability to lead operational projects and take responsibility for their delivery.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic setting, with the flexibility to adapt to shifting business priorities.
- Demonstrable experience as project manager (PMO) is a plus
