The Department "Dementia Diseases" under the direction of Professor Dr. Dr. med. Marc Aurel Busche is a nationally and internationally leading center for cognitive disorders and dementias. It clinically includes the Memory Clinic as well as the inpatient and outpatient geriatric psychiatry of the University Geriatrics Felix Platter and is directly connected to university teaching and research both at the Department of Biomedicine (working group "Brain Ageing and Neurodegeneration") and at the Department of Clinical Research of the University of Basel. Furthermore, the department maintains international collaborations, including with the UK Dementia Research Institute. Patients benefit from state-of-the-art early diagnostic and therapeutic approaches ranging from early cognitive disorders to advanced dementias. The department is interdisciplinary and interprofessional and works closely with the departments of geriatrics, neurology, and rehabilitation within the institution. Against this background, we offer you an environment where you can directly combine clinical work with innovative dementia research (e.g., EEG/MEG, sleep, neurophysiology, cognition and biomarkers, as well as experimental and clinical studies). Your tasks
Supervision of assistant physicians in the assessment and care of patients at the Memory Clinic
Assessment and care of your own patients at the Memory Clinic
Performing lumbar punctures
Weekly interdisciplinary case discussions with the specialties of geriatric psychiatry/psychiatry, neurology, neuropsychology, and neuroradiology (including nuclear medicine)
Participation in the further development of clinical processes and quality standards, for example in the area of biomarker-based diagnostics and novel therapeutic approaches
Opportunity to participate in clinical and translational research projects with the possibility of academic advancement
Professional training of assistant physicians and involvement in student teaching
