The Faculty of Psychology is one of seven faculties of the oldest university in Switzerland. With our core focus on Society & Choice and Health & Interventions, we are successful both nationally and internationally in our research and study programs. The Center for Cognitive and Decision Sciences investigates how individuals across the lifespan understand and evaluate risks and make decisions.
Your position
Dr. Maximilian Theisen (Center for Cognitive and Decision Sciences, www.cds.unibas.ch') ) at the Faculty of Psychology is seeking a student research assistant for 6.25 hours per week. The appointment is for 8 months starting 1 August 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of research tasks, including coding of open-text responses, literature search, data analysis, and miscellaneous administrative activities (e.g., maintenance of lab records and study materials, participant recruitment, support relating to grant preparation). The position is part of a research project into how people explain their own moral beliefs.
Your profile
You are enrolled in aMaster program at the University of Basel, preferably in psychology. Candidates should demonstrate strong academic writing skills in English and the ability to synthesize research literature clearly and concisely. Reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently on writing tasks are essential. A strong interest in moral psychology and/or experimental philosophy is desired.
