Your role and responsibilities
The Senior Commercial Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the development of competitive, high-quality techno-commercial proposals, ensuring each bid reflects the optimal solution, accurate costing, and alignment with both customer requirements and business objectives. Reporting to the Commercial Operations Director, this role acts as the custodian of the bid process, ensuring cross-functional collaboration across Sales, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Project Execution, and Product Management to deliver compliant, timely, and profitable offers.

Managing end-to-end bid strategy, defining the optimal technical solution, and commercial positioning for each opportunity.

Overseeing all technical, financial, and project-related inputs, including cost models, cash-flow considerations, margin analysis, engineering/commissioning estimates, and resource planning.

Coordinating cross-functional contributions from Sales, Engineering, SCM, Finance, Legal, and Project Execution to ensure aligned, timely, and high-quality proposal deliverables.

Ensuring full bid governance and documentation control, maintaining accurate records, assumptions, decisions, and version history in compliance with internal audit requirements.

Conducting customer-facing commercial discussions, including terms & conditions, clarifications, and negotiation inputs to support Sales.

Monitoring and reporting bid progress, providing structured updates, dashboards, and post-bid win/loss analyses to support continuous improvement.

Identifying and mitigating commercial, technical, and contractual risks, supporting the formal Risk Review process and ensuring alignment with company policies.
Qualifications for the role:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, or another related discipline

Around 8 to 10 years’ experience in commercial operations, project management, or proposal development within industrial automation, energy, or engineering services.

Proficient understanding of industrial automation and control systems, with the ability to interpret technical specifications.

Skilled in financial modeling, cost estimation, and margin analysis.

Familiarity with contract terms, risk reviews, and compliance requirements.

Skilled in communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Experienced methodological approach, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines.
