Job Summary:
Within the Straumann Group our Platform Technology organization (#Tech) strives for empowering dental professionals and partners to make patient care more accessible, predictable, and convenient. In this organization the Product Management Director for Digital Platform Technologies will lead a team of product management professionals, driving the development of the assigned portfolio in alignment with company goals. This role involves overseeing the entire product lifecycle from the idea, via the realization and operation all the way to phase-out of the product. The director will contribute to the strategy development, align priorities and objectives for the assigned portfolio and collaborate with cross-functional realization teams as well as with neighboring organizations. The position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, expertise on applying lean and agile methodologies, and a deep understanding of the dental market, aiming to foster innovation and drive product adoption and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the assigned portfolio of products, services and workflows as well as lead the team of respective product managers, product owners, and subject matter experts.
- Act as role model by embracing the company’s culture and fostering a lean and agile product management approach.
- Conduct in-depth market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities and challenges.
- Understand medical advancements and technology trends and drive their application.
- Support the yearly strategy development by defining the relevant contribution from the assigned business and ensure proper realization.
- Engage with key opinion leaders, manage the relationship with important customers, foster co-development with select customers.
- Attend industry conferences and events to represent the business and gather insights on evolving market demands and innovations.
- Generate and update business vision as well as propose, align, and communicate clear business priorities.
- Represent assigned business in meetings with the executive management board and other lead team meetings.
- Work closely with heads of portfolio management, user experience and software development to guide design, development and testing of the product.
- Work closely with heads of product marketing and or marketing communications to prepare and inform the go-to-market activities.
- Collaborate closely with logistics, planning services, customer services to ensure smooth operations.
- Support selection and onboarding of new strategic partners and collaborate with existing partners on a regular basis.
- Support screening for meaningful acquisition targets as well as support valuations, negotiations and post-merger integration activities.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the business success.
- Analyze business performance and initiate enhancements based on performance data.
- Create a business plan including all assigned products, derive budget plan, and update it on a yearly basis.
Required Qualifications:
- More than 10 years of experience in product management, preferably in the medical device or digital dentistry sector with a minimum of 5 years in leadership roles.
- Masters’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Dental Technology, or a related field; an additional degree (MBA or equivalent) is a plus.
- Experience with digitalization in the healthcare context
- Strong understanding of the dental market, including customer needs, competitive landscape, and regulatory requirements.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills with a track record of making data-driven decisions.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- High degree of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities
- Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus).
