Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals and ranks among the best hospital institutions worldwide according to the Newsweek 2025 ranking. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in care, research, and training.
Within the Infrastructure Department (DINF), the CIT-S (Construction, Engineering, Technical and Safety Directorate) operates, maintains, and modernizes a portfolio of more than 40 buildings. Its missions cover building construction and modernization, operation/maintenance of technical and biomedical equipment, as well as the protection and safety of property and people. You will work between workshop and construction sites to create metal parts and elements that directly contribute to the comfort and safety of patients and teams.
Mission
- You cut the material (sheets, bars), machine, mill, drill, file, chisel, notch, grind, bend, and weld in the workshop
- You assemble handles, locks, and other fittings, install seals, and prepare assemblies
- You take precise measurements, mark reference points, and assemble elements by welding and/or screwing
- On site, you adjust and fix by bolting or welding; you install doors and windows, fix railings and other facade elements
- You read/draw plans supporting the work and prepare technical documentation
- You use machine tools and computer numerical control (CNC) machining centers, strictly respecting safety rules (PPE, lockouts)
Profile
- You have completed your compulsory schooling
- You are not afraid of heights and have good physical endurance for work at height and on construction sites
- You demonstrate manual dexterity, rigor, and precision; your logical and methodical mind guides you
- You enjoy teamwork and have a sense of responsibility; you know how to analyze and solve problems.
