Head of Educational Technology 80 - 100%The Secondary School and Vocational Education Office (MBA) is the competence and service centre for vocational education, grammar schools, higher vocational education and further education in the canton of Zurich. We support and supervise secondary schools, vocational schools, providers of preparatory vocational years and training companies. The Digital Service Center Sek II (DSC) provides central services as a competence centre in this environment to support administrative as well as pedagogical-didactic processes for the more than 40 cantonal schools of secondary level II with around 60,000 users. In a dynamic educational and technological environment, we combine service orientation, pedagogical impact, digital transformation and reliable operation.
For the Educational Technology area, we are looking for a committed leader as Head of Educational Technology with a workload of 80 - 100% from 1 December 2026.
Your area of responsibility
As a member of the DSC management team, you take on the professional, personnel and organisational leadership responsibility for the Educational Technology area, which currently has six employees. In this role, you ensure the core mission of the area: the provision, use, management and further development of media, platforms and technologies to support and enrich digital teaching and learning processes at the cantonal schools of secondary level II.
You are responsible for the service portfolio of the EdTech services and ensure that needs-based, contemporary and operationally viable solutions are used. In doing so, you manage the use of EdTech services throughout the entire service lifecycle and, together with the schools, internal specialist departments as well as external partners and suppliers, ensure functioning support and operational processes.
In addition, you support pedagogical innovation processes, advise relevant actors and committees, and contribute to projects and initiatives for the provision of new services, applications, technologies and media. In this role, you take on a central bridging function between the cantonal schools, the DSC in the MBA, the Digital Learning Hub (DLH), internal specialist departments and various external partners and suppliers.
Your profile
You have a university degree and practical experience in the fields of educational sciences, media education, digital learning, business informatics or a comparable subject area. You bring proven leadership experience and have already worked in the environment of educational institutions, public administration or digital transformation. You combine pedagogical understanding with service and technology competence. You translate the requirements of schools into viable EdTech services. You bring experience in service management, project work and dealing with heterogeneous stakeholders and suppliers. Knowledge of data protection, information security and procurement is an advantage. You lead clearly and appreciatively, communicate appropriately for the level and work reliably.
