Following a retirement and as part of the harmonisation of flexible endoscope reprocessing practices across all its sites, the Fribourg Hospital (HFR) is looking for a:
Quality Officer for Endoscope Hygiene and Responsible for the Reprocessing of Flexible Endoscopes

Your mission
Under the responsibility of the Head of Central Sterilisation, you will ensure the coordination, monitoring, validation, quality control, repair follow-up, and continuous improvement of the flexible endoscope reprocessing processes across all HFR sites.
You actively contribute to the safety of patients and staff by ensuring compliance with standards, regulatory requirements, and current best practices.
Your main responsibilities
- Participate in the harmonisation of flexible endoscope reprocessing procedures across all HFR sites.
- Develop, update, and distribute procedures, work instructions, and quality documents.
- Ensure compliance of reprocessing practices, traceability of performed operations, conformity of the functioning of endoscope washer-disinfectors (EWD), drying cabinets, and endoscopes, application of Swissmedic requirements and Good Reprocessing Practices for Endoscopes (GRPE), and monitoring of consumables related to reprocessing.
- Supervise maintenance, validations, and periodic checks of equipment in collaboration with the biomedical service.
- Provide advice and training to staff involved in flexible endoscope reprocessing.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of practices and propose innovative solutions to enhance quality and safety.
Your profile
You have proven experience in endoscopy and flexible endoscope reprocessing (endoscopy nurse, technician, validator, or equivalent role). You also possess a very good knowledge of Swissmedic requirements and GRPE.
You hold a recognised qualification in endoscopy, such as:
- CAS in endoscopy practice or equivalent training (major advantage);
- REPIAS training or any other recognised training in the field of endoscope reprocessing;

Assignment
Under the responsibility of the Head of Central Sterilisation, you will take on the coordination, monitoring, validation, quality control, repair tracking, and continuous improvement of the processes for reprocessing flexible endoscopes at all HFR sites.
You actively contribute to patient and staff safety by ensuring compliance with applicable standards, legal requirements, and good practice guidelines.
Key tasks
- You participate in harmonising the procedures for reprocessing flexible endoscopes at all HFR sites.
- You create, update, and distribute procedures, work instructions, and quality documents.
- You ensure that reprocessing is carried out in compliance with regulations and that the performed steps are traceable; you ensure the operational conformity of endoscope cleaning and disinfection devices (EWD), drying cabinets, and endoscopes, monitor compliance with Swissmedic requirements and Good Practice for Endoscope Reprocessing (GPER), and track consumables related to reprocessing. Additionally, you oversee maintenance, validations, and periodic checks of equipment in collaboration with the medical technology department.
- You advise and train staff involved in flexible endoscope reprocessing.
- You contribute to the continuous improvement of practices and propose innovative solutions to enhance quality and safety.
Profile
You have proven professional experience in endoscopy and flexible endoscope reprocessing (endoscopy nurse, technician, validation officer, or equivalent function) and are well acquainted with the requirements of Swissmedic and GPER.
Recognised qualification in endoscopy, e.g.:
- French-language CAS in endoscopic practice or equivalent qualification (advantage)
- H+ seminar "Reprocessing of Endoscopes – STE Endo" or French-language REPIAS training or other recognised training in the field of endoscope reprocessing
