The Geneva Foundation for Sociocultural Animation is a partnership institution, funded by the Canton and the municipalities, whose mission is to promote and maintain social cohesion in the canton of Geneva, that is to ensure the quality of the relationship between individuals and society. Through socio-educational, sociocultural and associative field actions carried out by centres and outreach teams, the foundation meets the population's needs in terms of meeting, exchange, solidarity, citizenship, quality of life, with the general aim of preventing social exclusion.

A position of sociocultural animator at 70% is open within the Association House of the Neighbourhood Houses of Carouge.

Job Description

• Assume and develop, in collaboration with the team, responsibility for animation, socio-educational work and reception with all populations within the Carouge East sector, as well as responsibility for links in associative, artistic and collective and participatory intervention fields;

• Participate in communication and the development of various documentation materials;

• Contribute to the development of associative life and animation of the municipality, in a context of urban evolution, with the aim of promoting exchange and communication between people from different social backgrounds, cultures and ages;

• Participate in the development of the animation programme and the follow-up of the institutional project in connection with the association's committee;

• Assume field and management tasks related to activities.

Qualifications

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in social work or an equivalent diploma;

• Experience in sociocultural animation in an associative environment;

• Educational experience with children and young people aged 8 to 18 and family support;

• Interest/capacity for reflection on social issues (gender, racism, class, etc.);

• Experience in managing a team of instructors;

• Recognised skills in conceptualisation and management of participatory projects, initiative, versatility and creativity;

• Ability and willingness to cooperate, to work in a large team, within a new place, and in a network: animators, team leaders, instructors, administrative and technical staff, management committee, volunteers, facilitators, outreach social workers and other FASe locations, municipality, neighbourhood associations;

• Skills in managing communication tools (Instagram, Facebook, etc.);

• Sense of communication and social relations, collegiate spirit and interpersonal skills;

• Ability to share workloads, while demonstrating autonomy, rigour and responsibility;

• Synthesising ability;

• Good knowledge of the Geneva social system and the functioning of FASe;

• Organisational and planning skills, ability to manage priorities and emergencies;

• Ability to use common computer software.
