About the job
District heating plays an important role in achieving the set climate targets because it facilitates the replacement of fossil heating systems. We are advancing the expansion of district heating in Zollikon, relying on lake water as a regional energy source.
Through a digital resident information platform, the Werke am Zürichsee inform about the project. This contains a detailed overview of the various construction phases and provides real-time updates on possible restrictions. You can access the overview directly here:

Our district heating supply makes it easy for you to switch from a fossil heating system to a climate-friendly heating solution: district heating is delivered directly to your home – you no longer need to worry about your own heating system.
When connected to the district heating network, you mostly heat with renewable energy from the region. And this at predictable costs: due to the high proportion of energy from lake water, the price of district heating is more stable than that of fossil fuels. Moreover, unlike owning your own heating system, there are no costs for maintenance, repairs, official inspections, or chimney cleaning. When you consider all cost factors, you will see: district heating can compete with other heating systems in terms of total costs.
At this time, we cannot yet publish binding purchase prices.
Those who rely on natural gas are already doing a lot of good for the environment. Those who enrich their natural gas with biogas or even replace it entirely with biogas act very environmentally consciously. Because
biogas has all the positive properties of natural gas but is additionally CO2-neutral.
Werke am Zürichsee AG focuses on ecological products and therefore actively promotes
biogas from the region, which we obtain through Energie 360° AG. Biogas
is produced by the fermentation of biomass. This raw gas is upgraded to natural gas quality
and fed into the natural gas network. Biogas is CO2-neutral and renewable. It
is produced exclusively from natural waste materials or sewage gas.
We offer three different options for obtaining biogas. The price charged is
the natural gas price of the currently valid price plan plus a corresponding surcharge for
the biogas portion. Find further information under Documents Gas/Biogas.
In the following explanatory video, you will learn how district heating is produced using energy from lake water and how it heats the buildings connected to the district heating network.
