The Stage Technology & Workshops (BTW) of the Department of Performing Arts and Film (DDK) are the central service unit of the department for event technology, specialist infrastructure, video, sound, lighting, stage technology and workshops.
To support the team, BTW is looking for a
Event Technician specialising in Lighting, 80% (f,m,d)
Your Responsibilities
- Technical advice for event organisers of the DDK/ZHdK and external clients
- Planning, implementation, monitoring & control of lighting and stage technology requirements of our students and lecturers for modules, productions and guest performances, both as part of a team and independently for production-related support and organisation.
- Assembly and disassembly of lighting technology for productions and modules, as well as support for stage technology in setting up stage technical equipment & stage sets
- Supervision and operation of lighting equipment
- Ensuring lighting technical processes in the assigned area during rehearsals and performances
- Taking on infrastructural preparatory and transport tasks in the area of productions, storage, guest performances Light/Stage
- Carrying out maintenance and repair tasks on the lighting system
- Performing electrical installation work in the decoration area
- Creating production-related documentation in the lighting technical area
Your Profile
For this position, you have completed training as an event technician or a comparable qualification. A completed vocational training as an electrician or electromechanic is an advantage. We expect you to have some theatre experience. We also appreciate your expertise in programming lighting controls. Good prior knowledge of the ETC Gio console is a great advantage. Very good knowledge of common software and hardware components completes your profile. Knowledge of the functioning of spotlights, moving lights and LED technology is beneficial. You approach artistic concerns and requirements with the necessary sensitivity. You hold a driving licence at least category B. This versatile role requires willingness to work flexible hours including shifts and weekends.
You work closely with other stage-related departments as well as with students and take on both technical and technical-artistic tasks, maintaining direct contact with the artistic directors. This requires a high degree of independence and social competence. Due to the diversity of people working at the university of arts, the ability to communicate in English is also a prerequisite.
