Ring-shaped Waves of an Impulse
The Swiss artist Heikedine Günther presents her latest series of works ‹Concentric Circles› at the Goetheanum from 25 June to 30 September 2021. The more than 50 oil paintings and monotypes lead into a world of impulses and their effects on the environment.
"Even as a child, I felt an unceasing curiosity for discovering and creating – simply and purely for creativity and its forms of expression." This is what the Swiss painter Heikedine Günther says. In her engagement, among other things, with the approach of Carl Gustav Jung, she came across "the own core" as an artistic guiding motif. "The core stands in the most diverse cultures and religions of the world as a representative sign for growth, potential, and transcendence."
The artist makes her own oil paints and prepares the canvas with a gold ground. "The painting movements result from my own bodily swing, from which the form on the picture is determined." Besides their physical effect, colours stimulate an inner resonance within the person themselves.
The circle reconciles opposites. Despite its richness of meaning as a perfect form and universal symbol, for Heikedine Günther it must not be merely a simple circle that simply reveals itself as a circle.
In the main theme ‹Concentric Circles›, Heikedine Günther explores the interplay between microcosm and macrocosm. "Like a stone thrown into water, creating ever-expanding ring-shaped waves, every thought is subject to a force that unfolds in this environment." And she adds: "The concentric circles stand for thoughts, emotions, and experiences that reveal themselves in colour gradations and varying intensities."
