The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is the guardian of the Olympic Games and the leader of the Olympic Movement. A truly global organisation, it acts as a catalyst for collaboration between all Olympic stakeholders, including athletes, National Olympic Committees (NOCs), International Sports Federations (IFs), Organising Committees for the Olympic Games (OCOGs), Worldwide Olympic Partners and Media Rights-Holders. It also works with public and private authorities, including the United Nations, and other international organisations.

As a Privacy Counsel, you will collaborate with the Legal Affairs organisation to ensure compliance of IOC’s and affiliated entities’ data processing activities with Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection, GDPR and other applicable data protection laws.
Your main responsibilities in the role will be:

Support the business functions of the IOC and its affiliated entities by reviewing the compliance of all current and foreseen data processing activities with applicable laws in activities sectors such as:
- Anti-doping
- Organisation of the Olympic Games and other events
- Prevention of manipulation of competitions
- Human resources
- Result databases
- IT projects
- Digital media

Draft, negotiates and reviews all types of agreement having a data protection component, such as data processing agreement, data transfer agreement, joint controller agreement, etc.
- Support the DPO in the definition and implementation of data protection compliance strategies on a Swiss, European and worldwide basis.

Assess regulatory risks of potential new activities (Data Protection Impact Assessment)

Coordinate with data protection authorities in Switzerland and abroad

Assess and answer data subjects’ requests.

Advise on the adoption, drafting and implementation of privacy policies, cookie policies, terms of services, contracts, as well as technical and organisational measures required to meet applicable regulatory requirements and best practices

Coordinate with external IOC counsels advising on data protection matters

Assist the DPO in the following tasks:

Ensure reporting and coordination with competent data protection authorities in Switzerland and abroad

Interact with internal and external stakeholders (Legal, Information Technology/Security, Human Resources, Communications, organising committees), as well as data protection authorities and contributes to the creating of privacy and data protection standards and best practices

Monitor evolution of data protection regulatory landscape and ensure compliance with any new regulations

Provide data protection advice to staff
Eligibility criteria:
-
Qualified lawyer with professional experience in the field of data protection in a Swiss or European environment

Good understanding of information security, technology and new media

In-depth knowledge of GDPR and other relevant legislation

Fluency in English is mandatory, French a plus

Ability to interact with professionals of different backgrounds and cultures and to develop strong relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

Knowledge of current and emerging technologies is a plus.
