The Department of Justice, Security, and Health, which includes eight services as well as the secretariat of the Department, carries out various tasks for the benefit of the Graubünden population. One of these services is the Office of Migration and Civil Law of Graubünden. The Office deals with tasks in the areas of migration, asylum and return, entry, residence and identity documents, integration, naturalizations, and civil law (particularly civil status and surname law). The management of the Office is centrally located in Chur. You will be welcomed by a close-knit team with a culture based on openness and respect, as well as a solution-oriented work atmosphere. As head, you will report directly to the director of the Department of Justice, Security, and Health.
Following the retirement of the current job holder, we are looking for a new head of the Office of Migration and Civil Law starting June 1, 2026, or at a date to be agreed upon.
- Organizational, specialist, personnel, and financial responsibility for the service with about 200 employees
- Ensuring regular processing of the Office's affairs and efficient procedures entirely in electronic form
- Preparation of government and Grand Council matters in the Office's area of competence as well as participation in legislative activities
- Providing appropriate public information and responding to media inquiries
- Implementation of the corresponding federal and cantonal legislation on migration, asylum, and integration
- Expertise in the integration, development, and implementation of corresponding programs.
- Direction, support, and implementation of projects
- Representation of interests in commissions, working groups, and round tables
- Maintaining contacts with federal offices, cantonal services, municipal authorities, and partner organizations in the migration and asylum sector
- University degree, preferably in the legal field, as well as training in management and leadership
- Desired knowledge in the areas of asylum, migration, and integration
- Several years of experience in management positions and/or in public administration
- Knowledge and experience regarding cantonal political and administrative structures as well as procedures.
- Ability and sensitivity to assess political situations of all kinds
- Positive conception of human beings and a fundamentally appreciative attitude
- Excellent communication skills and experience in conflict management
- High social skills, ability to cope with large workloads, and enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration
- Knowledge of the Italian and/or Romansh language is an advantage
