The Department of Women, Children and Adolescents is tasked with providing quality care tailored to the needs of women at every stage of their lives and addressing the health issues faced by newborns, children, and adolescents from birth up to the age of 16. For many years, the Department of Women, Children and Adolescents has continuously developed cutting-edge services and centres of expertise in several medical specialties.

In addition to monitoring and managing pregnancies through to delivery, the Obstetrics Service is the regional reference centre for high-risk pregnancies and foeto-maternal medicine. The Maternity Unit works closely with the Neonatology Unit, where around 500 newborns are hospitalised each year, with teams providing care and close monitoring 24/7.

The Obstetrics Service, the largest maternity unit in Switzerland with over 4,000 births per year, is responsible for managing pregnant women and pregnancy diagnosis through to delivery, as well as during the postpartum period.

Both normal and high-risk pregnancies are monitored by the service, which provides ultrasounds and prenatal diagnosis.

Therapeutic pregnancy terminations beyond 12 weeks gestation are also managed, as well as services in foetal medicine (monitoring, diagnosis, intrauterine treatment).

Job Description

As a deputy physician, you ensure the quality of medical services in the various care units of the department, particularly in the Foetal Medicine and Ultrasound Unit.

You collaborate with medical and nursing staff in patient care and coordinate practical activities, as well as diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for patients entrusted to you.

Working in a stimulating university environment within a multidisciplinary team, you are recognised for your leadership and apply your excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills within the multidisciplinary team and with patients. Furthermore, you have demonstrated strong adaptability.

You efficiently support, supervise, and mentor junior doctors and senior registrars in the department in their skills development.

With a confirmed interest in teaching, you participate in undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing education in obstetrics.

Dynamic, flexible, and committed, you develop interdisciplinary clinical projects and participate in research projects within the obstetrics department.

You take part in on-site on-call duties and standby for the gynaecology and obstetrics services.

Qualifications

You hold a federal medical diploma or an equivalent qualification recognised by MEBEKO.

You have an FMH title in gynaecology and obstetrics or an equivalent title recognised by MEBEKO, as well as advanced training in Swiss maternal-foetal medicine or equivalent, with the possibility of accreditation in Switzerland.

You possess the right to practise in the canton of Geneva and have a minimum French level of C1.

You hold a doctoral thesis, privat-docent, or an equivalent title.

Additional Information

You will work day, night, and weekend shifts according to the department's needs.
