Job Description
We are recruiting a Laboratory Technician (M/F/N) to ensure the optimisation of effluent treatment and sustainable waste management at our Monthey site.
Mission:
- Independently carry out physico-chemical and biological tests to optimise the treatment of the site’s effluents and waste, while ensuring analysis and the drafting of associated technical reports.
- Develop and validate new working procedures for the laboratory to meet the constantly evolving environmental standards.
- Actively contribute to Syngenta group’s international waste recovery projects by implementing concrete and innovative solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with HSEQ rules and quality assurance procedures to guarantee the safety and reliability of all laboratory activities.
- Perform tests and analyses independently, strictly respecting instructions and deadlines.
- Master the use of specific equipment and the application of complex analytical methods without direct supervision.
- Ensure the operational implementation and configuration of new tests within the environmental laboratory.
- Identify opportunities to improve procedures, propose technical development programmes and collaborate with management for their deployment.
- Write structured and precise technical reports, both in French and English, to document results and progress.
- Maintain a rigorous organisation of the workspace to ensure a clean, safe and efficient environment.
Qualifications
Required
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a laboratory technician, ideally in environmental technologies (water treatment, advanced oxidation processes, adsorption and/or biodegradation).
- Knowledge and safe handling of activated sludge is a significant advantage.
- Previous experience in analytical laboratory or organic synthesis is considered an asset.
- Proven mastery of safety rules related to laboratory work.
- Demonstrated ability to manage activities independently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively within a team.
Education and skills:
- Federal VET Diploma (CFC) as laboratory technician or equivalent higher professional qualification in chemistry or environment (e.g. DUT/BUT).
- Proficiency in technical English (minimum B2 level: reading and writing mandatory).
- Good command of standard office tools (Microsoft 365).
