About the role
We are looking for a Human Rights Program Manager to support the design, implementation and communications of the Human Rights approach as part of Barry Callebaut Forever Chocolate Strategy for 2025 for both cocoa and non-cocoa ingredients.
The Human Rights Program Manager will be a member of the Corporate Sustainability team in Zurich and will report to the Human Rights Pillar Lead.
Key responsibilities include
Support in the design of the vision, targets and implementation plan of the Human Rights approach, including forced and child labor as part of Barry Callebaut Forever Chocolate Strategy for 2025 for both cocoa and non-cocoa ingredients.
Support in the implementation and continuous improvement of Human Rights’s Theory of Change.
Contribute to the development and review of all policies and management processes related to Human Rights.
Support and collaborate with the country and regional teams in operationalizing the Human Rights strategy via among others the development of guidance and support material.
Contribute to broadly communicate the Human Rights approach within the company to create awareness and internal support.
Contribute to ensure that data collection methods are efficient and measure the impact of the Human Rights Pillar’s Theory of Change in support of the IM/IT and M&E departments.
About you
Bachelor/master’s degree in Social Work, Human Rights Law, International Relations, Development Studies or similar
5-10 years’ experience in a senior Human rights, child rights or sustainability-related role
Background and experience in Human Rights strategy development and implementation within an organization
Good understanding of the external Human Rights and HRDD context and developments and being able to anticipate on future requirements, to set priorities and apply in the systems setup
Good knowledge of the supply chain issues and challenges in Cocoa and Chocolate
English a must, fluent French and Spanish are a plus
Professional experience of program management across multiple locations is a plus
First knowledge and experience in using established inter-agency standards and guidelines in Human Rights and Child protection.
Excellent communication skills and proven ability to influence change at an operational and strategic level
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience and exposure in cocoa sourcing regions is strongly desired
Multitasking / well organized in a sometimes high pressure environment
Pro-active and constructive mindset
Versatile and a team player
Proven strong stakeholder management skills in a complex, multi layered environment
Autonomous personality who can make decisions and give directives
Travel required in 5% of the time to Origin countries
The role is based in Zurich, Switzerland and the desired start date is October 1st, 2025
