Head of Medical Coding 80 - 100%
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a committed and experienced personality as Head of Medical Coding. In this responsible role, you ensure the correct coding of all inpatient cases and make an important contribution to the quality of medical documentation as well as to the economic success of the hospital.
Your Challenge
- Professional and personnel management of the coding team
- Responsibility for the correct coding of all inpatient cases including rehabilitation according to SwissDRG
- Creation and control of BFS data sets
- Consulting and training of physicians to improve documentation quality and the application of SwissDRG
- Clarification of incomplete or unclear medical documentation with the treating physicians
- Processing of rejections and inquiries from cost bearers
- Conducting evaluations, statistics, and benchmarking (e.g., case mix index)
- Further development and assurance of uniform coding standards within the team
- Participation in maintenance, further development, and updates of the coding software
- Preparation of reports and analyses for physicians as well as finance and controlling departments
Your Competencies
- Right to participate in the selection and further development of the coding software
- Responsibility for statistics, reporting, and training
- Onboarding of new employees
- Close cooperation with finance & controlling, patient administration, IT, hospital management, cost bearers as well as BFS and SwissDRG
Your Profile
- Federal diploma in medical coding
- Medical or nursing basic training with several years of professional experience in healthcare
- Several years of experience in medical coding according to SwissDRG
- Leadership experience or willingness to take on leadership responsibility
- Good IT skills and experience with coding software
- Analytical thinking and understanding of medical as well as economic contexts
- Strong communication skills, assertiveness, and pedagogical skills
- Independent, structured, and team-oriented working style
