The Science IT and Environmental Data group, part of the FOREMA research unit, aims to provide state-of-the-art, in-house Science IT technology consulting to empower WSL scientists in pushing the boundaries of modern environmental research. You possess a completed degree in software engineering, data science or in a scientific field (or comparable education and skills) with a minimum of two years of experience. Strong skills in professional research software engineering, with the ability to understand and write code in a variety of programming languages used in research (e.g., Python, R, C/C++, etc.) is mandatory. Experience in AI topics and research data workflows/pipelines is also necessary. The ideal profile is rounded up by an understanding of modern research data management practices and experience with modern AI tools for code development. Awareness of agile software development methods with short release cycles is essential for this position. Knowledge or interest in environmental research is also required. You enjoy collaborating closely with researchers, and you are a communicative, reliable, and team-oriented person with excellent English skills.
