The Department of Community and Primary Care Medicine (DMCPR) has the societal mission to provide access to quality care for all through local medicine, to ensure the management of minor medical and surgical emergencies, to promote prevention among citizens, to provide medical knowledge for judicial investigations, and to promote the health of travellers.
The Sexual Health and Family Planning Unit's mission is to be a resource centre for all aspects of sexual health. It aims to develop prevention and promotion of sexual health in the canton and to meet the needs of the population.
Through free and confidential consultations, it offers low-threshold access to anyone who wishes, regardless of age, culture, gender identity, or sexual orientation. It provides psychosocial services and works in collaboration with the health and social network of the region.
The Sexual Health and Family Planning Unit is the official cantonal centre for pregnancy, in reference to the 1981 federal law which states that in case of pregnancy, those concerned have the right to free consultations and assistance.
Job Description
As a sexual health advisor, you provide quality consultations through listening, advice, and decision support in all areas of sexual and reproductive health.
For situations that require it, you offer psychosocial support and/or propose referrals within the health/social network of the region.
You carry out sexual health promotion activities by organising workshops or events for target audiences (for example: young people, migrant populations, people in precarious situations) or at public or professional events.
You deliver sexual health courses as part of HES training or other professional training programmes.
You develop and monitor prevention and sexual health promotion projects in collaboration with your colleagues.
Depending on requests from your hierarchy, you respond to journalists' requests for interviews and/or articles. You may also be called upon to participate in research work.
To keep up with developments in sexual health knowledge and societal needs, you commit to strengthening and adapting your professional skills by regularly undertaking continuing education.
Qualifications
Holder of a diploma from a university of applied sciences in the social, education, or health field, or any other qualification deemed equivalent; training in sexual health (such as CAS or DAS) is a real asset.
You have professional experience in the field of sexual health.
You are comfortable with foreign languages; knowledge of Spanish is mandatory.
You have good communication skills, strong interpersonal qualities, and the ability to work in a team. You have the capacity to initiate and independently manage projects in agreement with the team and hierarchy.
Knowledge of the health/social network of the canton of Geneva is an asset.
