The Office for Hunting and Fishing (UCP) is responsible, among other things, for fish and crayfish stocks as well as their habitats. In addition to the protection and promotion of aquatic ecosystems, the UCP also sets the framework conditions for the sustainable exploitation of fish stocks.
As an academic collaborator in the fisheries section, you are responsible, among other things, for the specialist and ichthyological support of overarching revitalization projects, as well as for the independent planning and implementation of small habitat improvement measures in the aquatic sector. In addition, you provide specialist support in complex fishing-related issues within the framework of planning and construction projects. Furthermore, you take primary responsibility for the entire fisheries statistics and support the fishery guards in ichthyological and fisheries economics matters. In this context, collaboration on a specialist level with internal office sections, other cantonal services, nature conservation organizations, and other interest representatives is of fundamental importance. You also represent the interests of fisheries in technical and project bodies. The main workplace is preferably located in Chur and for fieldwork in the respective fishing districts.
Planned employment start: immediately or by agreement
- Planning, support, and implementation of habitat improvement measures in the aquatic sector
- Responsibility for processes in the fisheries statistics sector
- Responsibility for processes related to water and fish stock assessments including analysis according to the graduated modular system
- Initiation, management, and implementation of studies and projects related to fisheries
- Preparation of data and reporting
- Education in natural sciences at a university of applied sciences / university or practical professional training with specialization in fisheries biology and/or aquatic ecology.
- Strong ecological thinking skills, in-depth knowledge and experience in fisheries management
- Practical knowledge in watercourse restoration (revitalization of watercourses)
- Good knowledge of statistics and experience in data management
- Good written and oral expression skills in German and preferably also in Italian.

- Skills in conducting negotiations and giving presentations
