For the apprenticeship starting in summer 2026, we offer a position as a Color and Paint Laboratory Technician EFZ. The training to become a laboratory technician EFZ in the field of color and paint is an independent and demanding 3-year apprenticeship. We train one color and paint laboratory technician EFZ each year. For interested candidates, we offer trial days by appointment. Paint laboratory technicians work in companies that develop, manufacture, test, and optimize paints, coatings, and printing inks, or in scientific institutions. Their main tasks are found in the areas of development, analytics, quality control, and application technology. Paint and color laboratory technicians know how and on what substrate the paint or coating is best applied. Therefore, they must know and consider the properties of various substrates (wood, metal, plastic, masonry, paper). They are familiar with the diverse requirements for processing properties and the durability of the finished coatings. This makes the work extremely varied and interesting. Therefore, the expectations for young women and men who want to become a laboratory technician in the field of color and paint are high. A strong secondary school diploma is the basis for a successful training. Additionally, the following is important:
- Interest in natural sciences and technology
- Very good mathematics skills
- Independence and teamwork ability
- Craftsmanship
- Willingness to experiment, perseverance, and patience
- Good oral and written communication
- No color blindness (e.g., red-green color weakness)
