About the job
On behalf of the Department of Justice of the Canton of St.Gallen, we are building a new forensic unit in Wil with 16 places for mentally ill people with medium security needs. This unit complements the existing offerings of our Forensic Competence Centre. We now offer the entire forensic psychiatric treatment chain from outpatient and inpatient (low and medium security needs), offence-preventive treatments in the correctional system or in the measures centre, consultation and liaison services to the expert assessment office.
The opening of the new forensic unit is planned for summer 2027, so you can play a key role in the commissioning of the new building, including recruiting staff and further developing the concepts.
- You are responsible for psychiatric care in the forensic area at the Wil location, lead the department and manage the Forensic Competence Centre with wards, outpatient clinic, consultation and liaison services, prison psychiatry, offence-preventive offerings as well as the expert assessment office.
- You take on personnel, professional and operational management.
- You develop concepts and implement the further development and implementation for the commissioning of the new forensic unit with medium security needs from summer 2027.
- You actively shape teaching as well as further and continuing education and are responsible for the SIWF training centre (Forensic Psychiatry and Psychotherapy for Adults).
- You support specialist doctor candidates in their training and assist them in expert assessment activities.
- You lead your department based on evidence and business management principles and develop it strategically.
- You participate in the internal on-call service and ensure smooth operations in accordance with legal requirements, our company-wide standards and the clinic’s orientation.
- You lead cross-departmental projects, optimise processes, ensure quality and actively promote change processes as well as interprofessional collaboration.
- You represent the medical and psychology professions, maintain an active network and engage in cantonal and supra-cantonal committees.
- You are a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy with a focus on forensic psychiatry and psychotherapy and have further training in leadership and management.
- You have several years of experience as a senior physician in inpatient and outpatient forensic psychiatry and psychotherapy.
- As an entrepreneurial leader, you think and act in a networked, solution-oriented and efficient manner.
- You convince with excellent communication and networking skills as well as clear decisiveness. In daily interactions, you are open, respectful and appreciative.
- You enjoy working interprofessionally as well as interdisciplinarily.
