The BFF Competence Education Bern is the leading intercultural education centre for the topics: bridge programmes, care, health, hotel and domestic management, childhood pedagogy, social pedagogy, facility management and further education. 5800 people from over 80 different nations work and learn at the school.
At the Vocational Education Department, young people and adults are taught the 2- and 3-year basic training programmes in the professional fields of care, health and hotel and domestic management. In addition, the annual general education course for adults is offered. Our learners attend practical and competence-oriented lessons. Around 100 teachers accompany a total of over 2400 learners on their way to a successful professional qualification. Become one of them!

Tasks
- Delivering general education lessons according to the school curriculum and the BFF ABU concept (action- and competence-oriented, situationally designed).
- Active participation in subject and school development processes.
- Promoting the professional and social integration of adult learners.
- Designing language-sensitive lessons, especially for learners with a migration background.
- Supporting heterogeneous learning groups and taking on a class teacher role.
Workload and teaching days:
- 8 lessons alternating every second week with a class of adult health care assistants from August to May
Teaching day: Monday
- 8 lessons weekly with an ABU-E class including class teacher duties
Teaching day: Friday
Requirements
- Completed training as a vocational school teacher for general education at secondary level II (EHB, PH or equivalent) or willingness to complete the training.
- Several years of teaching experience with adult learners is an advantage.
- Enjoyment in working with a heterogeneous adult clientele and people with a migration background.
- Strengths in team teaching, internal differentiation, individual learning support and blended learning.
- High initiative and openness to different life realities and educational paths.
- Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration within the subject group and department.
- High presence on site (8 lessons per teaching day) as well as active exchange within the team.
