About the job
Shape the future of quantum computing! As a Postdoctoral Fellow in our team, you will develop ultrafast, non-destructive spin qubit readout-a critical milestone for scalable quantum processors. Spin qubits in semiconductor quantum dots are among the most promising building blocks for future quantum technologies. The Quantum Opto-Electronics Group (QOEG), led by Prof. Dr. Tomasz Smole?ski at the Department of Physics, University of Basel, invites you to join this groundbreaking project within the NCCR SPIN consortium. This position offers the unique opportunity to make significant contributions to the field. You will work at the forefront of quantum research, contributing to a platform for dynamical Q-switching of superconducting resonators.
Your position
- Develop and implement a platform for dynamical optical Q-switching of superconducting resonators to achieve ultrafast and nondestructive readout of gate-defined spin qubits.
- Conduct high-frequency opto-transport experiments at cryogenic temperatures.
- Design, build, and optimize experimental setups for optoelectronic measurements
- Collaborate closely with consortium partners, particularly the groups of Prof. Richard Warburton and Dr. Andreas Kuhlmann
Your profile
Required:
- PhD (completed or near completion) in Physics, Nanoscience, Electrical/Optical Engineering, or related fields
- Proven expertise in condensed matter physics, particularly in quantum dot systems or superconducting circuits (evidenced by publications or projects)
- Experience with high-frequency transport experiments at low temperatures
- Proficiency in computer-based data acquisition and processing (e.g., Python, C++, LabView)
- Proven track record of high-impact research publications and conference presentations
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, innovate, and drive projects forward
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Experience with dilution refrigerators
- Experience with ultrafast optical experiments and pulsed laser systems
We offer you
Thrive in an inspiring, international research environment with cutting-edge infrastructure, where your work will directly impact the future of quantum technologies. Enjoy excellent opportunities for scientific development, career advancement, and integration into a dynamic, interdisciplinary consortium, and benefit from attractive employment conditions. The University of Basel stands for openness, diversity, team spirit, and scientific curiosity.
