Your position
As Operational Head, you will oversee the scientific, operational, and financial management of the CADENCE Core Facility. You will be employed by the DBE University of Basel and accountable to the Managing Director of the DBE. You will work closely with the Steering Group and the User Board of the Core Facility, including biomedical engineers, movement scientists, and clinicians, as well as with research personnel such as postdoctoral researchers and PhD candidates.Your key tasks include:
- Managing the organizational, technical, and financial aspects of the Core Facility
- Operate and set up the infrastructure for and together with users
- Maintaining a comprehensive financial overview, including budgeting and annual financial planning
- Setting operational goals for the coming year and implementing scientific, technical, and operational improvements
- Providing technical training and ensuring safe, efficient use of the facility
- Preparing and maintaining collaboration agreements, data sharing agreements, and service contracts
- Ensuring visibility and organize and coordinate outreach activities of the Core Facility
- Annual reporting about the Core Facility
Your profile
We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:- A PhD with at least five years of work experience in a relevant scientific or engineering field
- Experience with movement laboratories or related technologies
- Leadership experience and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
- Strong written and oral communication and negotiation skills with all stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality operational standards
- Familiarity with legal and ethical frameworks governing human studies
- Experience in budgeting and maintaining a strategic financial overview
- Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with academic environments (advantageous)
- Industry experience (advantageous)
- Language skills: English and German C1 level
