Temporary Animal Care Assistant for 6 Months 40 - 60%The Veterinary Office of the Canton of Zurich is committed to animal welfare and animal health. It contributes to ensuring the well-being of animals and the quality of animal products. It helps to prevent animal diseases by monitoring animal stocks with laboratory tests and combating outbreaks of animal diseases. It also creates framework conditions for the safe handling of dogs by the population. For the area of animal protection for pets in the animal care team, we are looking for a temporary assistant (40-60%) for 6 months starting immediately or by arrangement.
Tasks
You will work in an animal shelter in Zurich North. This shelter mainly cares for dogs, cats, rabbits, small mammals, birds, and reptiles that are temporarily in the custody of the Veterinary Office. You ensure the well-being of these animals through proper feeding and care and provide appropriate activities for them. In addition to direct animal care, tasks include administrative work on the computer, cleaning and disinfecting the accommodations, inventory management, and grounds maintenance at the site. You will also assist at the cantonal lost animal reporting center, where reports from the Swiss Animal Reporting Center (STMZ) are checked and necessary measures are initiated.
Requirements
You are a trained animal caretaker EFZ or have the "FBA Animal Care" diploma. You have already gained practical experience and are used to working in a structured and independent manner, as well as in a team, and processing data using computers. You like to take responsibility, and working in a small, well-coordinated team suits you. You are willing to work on weekends and public holidays.
