The Language and Information Sciences Section of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Lausanne is offering a position for a graduate assistant in computational humanities.
Job-related information
Start date: August 1, 2026
Contract duration: one year, renewable twice for 2 years, total maximum duration of 5 years
Work rate: 80%
Workplace: Lausanne-Dorigny
Your activities
• At least 50% of the work rate will be dedicated to personal and collective research, and to completing a doctoral thesis in computer science for the humanities / computational humanities
• Up to 50% of the work rate will be devoted to supporting teaching and supervision tasks, and to the technical, administrative, and institutional activities of the SLI section ( https://www.unil.ch/sli/fr/home.html )
Your profile
- Master's degree in Arts (or equivalent degree, diploma obtained at the time of starting the position).
- Solid training in computer science and quantitative methods (software development, general and scientific programming, statistics, mathematical methods and formalism, etc.); ideally, training in a humanities or social sciences discipline.
- Strong interest in developing computational modeling methods applied to issues and data in Arts, notably one or more disciplines taught at UNIL, including digital humanities, video game studies, language sciences, or artificial intelligence.
- Good command of French and English (level B2 or equivalent).
