An Information Specialist Librarian at the BiUM
The University Medical Library (BiUM) of the Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM) and the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is seeking an Information Specialist Librarian in evidence synthesis for a fixed-term contract of 2 years.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Through its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
Integrated into a hospital-university environment, the university medical library plays a central role in supporting research, education, and evidence-based practice. The Documentary Research team offers its expertise to researchers, clinicians, and doctoral students engaged in evidence synthesis projects.
As an information specialist in evidence synthesis, you will strengthen this team and actively contribute to the methodological quality of systematic reviews and other evidence syntheses.
Mission
- You are a resource person for literature searching within evidence synthesis projects
- You design and document systematic search strategies, in close collaboration with research teams
- You support researchers in applying international standards and best practices (Cochrane, JBI, PRISMA)
- You advise and support the use of specialised tools (Rayyan, Covidence, EndNote, etc.)
- You assist with the submission and registration of protocols (PROSPERO, other registries)
- You maintain active monitoring of methodological developments in evidence synthesis
- You explore, test, and evaluate new documentary research tools, including artificial intelligence tools
- You develop and deliver advisory services, training (in-person and remote), and awareness-raising activities
- You design appropriate educational materials (guides, tutorials, online modules)
- You contribute more broadly to the library’s research support and training activities (clinicians, students).
Profile
- You hold a Master’s degree in information science or an equivalent qualification
- An academic background (Master’s or Doctorate) in health sciences, life sciences, or public health would be an advantage
- You have proven experience in developing, executing, and documenting search strategies for systematic reviews
- You have experience in adult education or pedagogy, a plus
- You have participated as a co-author in at least one systematic review
- You possess good knowledge of methodologies associated with different types of evidence synthesis (Cochrane, JBI, etc.)
- You are proficient in reporting standards (PRISMA, PRISMA-S)
- You have advanced mastery of biomedical databases and their specificities, thesaurus functioning (MeSH, Emtree), and advanced search techniques (Boolean operators, proximity, search fields)
- You are comfortable with reference management and screening tools (EndNote, Covidence, Rayyan)
- You have excellent command of IT tools and collaborative platforms
- You master scientific English
- You possess excellent written and oral communication skills
- You demonstrate scientific rigour and attention to detail
- You have an analytical and critical mindset
- You are autonomous and well organised
- You show intellectual curiosity and openness to innovation
- You have a good ability to position yourself as an expert while working in a team
- A strong interest in innovation and the use of AI in documentary research would be a plus.
