A Research Officer for the Paediatric Cardiology Unit

The Paediatrics Service of the Woman-Mother-Child Department at CHUV is looking for a research officer for its paediatric cardiology unit, with a workload between 70% and 80%. The starting date is planned for 1 October 2026 or a date to be agreed.

Context

The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research and education.

The Woman-Mother-Child Department (DFME) brings together the Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Neonatology, Paediatrics and Paediatric Surgery Services. More than 1,500 professionals work every day to care for women and children, from birth to adolescence.

The study related to paediatric cardiology will focus on the following topic:

Repurposing of empagliflozin for paediatric heart failure: a pharmacometric-informed, seamless, double-blind,

randomised clinical trial among children with heart failure.

This study aims to investigate this treatment in children aged 6 months to 18 years with heart failure. It is a randomised controlled, multicentre and international study, aiming to include 120 patients across 5 countries, with the participation of about 15 centres.

Mission

• You support the Chief Investigator and the Co-Chief Investigator in finalising the study protocol, ethical submissions to the various cantonal commissions and the different countries participating in the study, as well as to the various competent authorities
• You contribute to the preparation of contracts with the different sites and partner institutions, in collaboration with the DFME Clinical Research Unit, CHUV Legal Affairs, the Sponsor's Office, the Clinical Research Centre, etc.
• You ensure the coordination of the study (document management, site preparation and opening, recruitment monitoring, data checks and queries, site visits, safety, reporting to competent authorities and ethics committees, preliminary preparation of financial reports, links and collaboration with the monitoring group, support to the Data Safety Monitoring Board).

Profile

• You hold a Bachelor (minimum requirement) or Master/or equivalent degree in human or veterinary medicine, pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, life sciences, biology, biomedical sciences, nursing, public health, epidemiology, clinical research, biomedical engineering, data science applied to health, or another related field
• You have knowledge of the ethical principles of clinical research
• You have experience in managing clinical studies, in submissions to ethics committees and competent authorities
• You have advanced knowledge (C1 or higher) spoken and written of French and/or German, as well as English (C1 or higher)
• You have prior experience in academic sectors (universities/hospitals) and private sectors (pharmaceutical industry), an asset
• You have an interest in clinical research in the fields of paediatrics, paediatric cardiology, heart failure and/or clinical pharmacology
• You demonstrate great professional rigour as well as excellent attention to detail
• You have the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and multi-site team
• You have excellent organisational and communication skills
• You are proficient in common IT tools (Microsoft Office.)

Depending on your profile, the salary scale will be between level 9 and level 10.
