Your new role

You will take on the personnel, professional, organisational and financial management of the Open Youth Work Centre and actively shape its further development. Together with the team, you ensure a contemporary, needs-based and future-oriented direction of open youth work in the city of St. Gallen.

As a member of the management of the Children Youth Family department, you bring in youth-relevant topics, participate in strategic decisions and represent the concerns of young people and young adults within the municipal structures.

At the same time, you remain close to practice: you work in the various offers of the Open Youth Work Centre as needed, accompany projects and actions together with young people and support your team in implementing innovative and participatory offers. You promote cooperation with schools, specialist agencies, clubs, institutions and other partner organisations and contribute to the visibility and further development of open youth work through targeted public relations work. In addition, you are responsible for budget planning and the careful use of the department's financial resources.

Irregular working hours as well as assignments in the evenings and occasionally at weekends are part of this role at times.

This position is for you if you

• have a university of applied sciences degree in social work or a comparable qualification.
• have several years of experience in open child and youth work.
• have leadership experience or proven leadership skills.
• consider participation with the target group as well as with employees as a matter of course.
• can combine strategic thinking with practical relevance.
• enjoy promoting, developing employees and achieving goals together.
• have experience in project development and project management.
• possess strong social, communication and networking skills.
• can present yourself confidently and address a wide range of stakeholders appropriately.
• wish to take responsibility for finances, budgeting and resource planning.
• are flexible and willing to contribute both strategically and operationally.

The Children Youth Family department is a specialist office for children and young people between 6 and 26 years old, their caregivers and other interested adults. It takes on tasks such as advice, provision of information, support with ideas and accompaniment of leisure activities.

The Open Youth Work Centre department of the Children Youth and Family department of the city of St. Gallen provides a variety of leisure activities in the city centre. With facilities such as the youth pub talhof, the youth culture space flon, the flon studios and the mobile youth work, it makes a significant contribution to youth culture in St. Gallen.
