Operations Clerk – Facilities & Operations (50%) m/w/d apprenticeship
At the Inter-Community School Zurich (ICS), we are more than a school – we are an international community where everyone feels welcome. For over six decades, ICS has provided first-class education as Switzerland’s oldest international school and a leading IB World School.
Located just 10 km from Zurich’s old town, in the scenic village of Zumikon, our campus is surrounded by nature while remaining close to the heart of the city.
We are looking for a 50% Operations Clerk – Facilities & Operations to support the day-to-day running of our school site.
This role provides structured administrative, technical and coordination support to the Operations Department and acts as an important link between facilities, safety, events, extracurricular activities and external service providers. The position is well suited to someone who enjoys working in a structured, practical and service-oriented environment.
We are open to applications from qualified candidates as well as students in a Lehre or school-based training programme, through a partnership model.
The Work of the Role
Facilities, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain and update evacuation plans, fire drawings and safety documentation
- Manage signage across the school (rooms, doors, safety notices, incident signs)
- Support the Security and Safety Team by keeping documentation and procedures up to date
- Act as deputy for the Operations Manager for defined safety or operational matters
ECAs & Events
- Coordinate rooming and logistics for extracurricular activities
- Support event set-ups, safety requirements and operational readiness
- Liaise with internal teams and external partners
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain operational documentation, reports and action tracking
- Follow up with internal and external stakeholders
- Request and track quotes, work orders and service follow-ups
Process Improvement
- Support the development of more efficient ways of working
- Help improve reporting, documentation and coordination systems
What makes you the ideal Candidate:
- Very good German (spoken and written) is required
- Good working knowledge of English
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Comfortable working with technical documents, plans and data
- Reliable, structured and detail-oriented
- Confident communicating with internal teams and external companies
- Interested in facilities, operations, safety or administration
- Suitable for Lehre / vocational training or school partnership pathways
