The IT Cluster Department of the Department of Education, with its six regional competence centers (clusters), ensures IT operations for all cantonal secondary level II schools (vocational schools and high schools). In doing so, we support the schools in the professional implementation of IT projects and provide tools that ensure the smooth use of IT resources in teaching and school administration.

The IT Clusters I and V ensure the technical ICT operation for the vocational and continuing education centers in Wattwil, Rapperswil, and Rorschach/Altstätten as well as the cantonal schools Wattwil and Heerbrugg.

ICT System Engineer Server and Network (m/f/d)

Workload: 80-100%

Workplace: Wattwil, Rapperswil, and Heerbrugg

What to expect

• Operation, maintenance, and further development of IT infrastructures (servers, network, clients, peripherals, Azure Cloud)
• Second level support as well as assistance in third level for more complex faults
• Participation in IT projects as well as independent management of subprojects including the development of concepts in the area of system technology and network
• Analysis and sustainable resolution of faults as well as error prevention
• Evaluation and introduction of new technologies and solutions as well as automation and standardization of operational processes
• Creation and maintenance of system documentation

What distinguishes you

• Completed training as an IT specialist (EFZ, HF, FH) or several years of experience in a comparable function
• Manufacturer certifications are an advantage (Microsoft Associate/Expert, CCNA/CCNP, etc.)
• Experience with virtualization is an advantage (VMware, Proxmox)
• Sound knowledge in the Windows environment (on-premises servers and clients as well as Azure Cloud with EntraID and Intune) and Linux (Ubuntu)
• Knowledge in the network area (firewall, switching, WLAN) with experience in HPE Aruba, Cisco, Checkpoint, Sophos
• Strong commitment with service and customer orientation
• Good German and English skills, spoken and written
