Assistant Sexton / Caretaker (25–35%)
The church district seven eight belongs to the Zurich church community and includes the church locations Balgrist, Fluntern, Hottingen, and Neumünster. For the caretaker and sexton team of the church district, we are looking for a committed person to start immediately or by arrangement as
Your tasks
- Reception of community members and event visitors as well as accompaniment of various occasions such as church services, concerts, baptisms, etc.
- Setting up and providing rooms for church services, events, and concerts with 10 to 500 guests
- Control and operation of technical systems (church bells, sound system, lighting) and infrastructure
- Carrying out cleaning work (maintenance and basic cleaning) inside and outside the buildings (including winter service)
- Performing minor repair work
- Opening and closing service of the churches including rounds and room checks
Your profile
- Completed vocational training and interest in working in a church environment including attendance at church services
- Experience in cleaning work and building technology as well as manual skills
- Willingness to complete the sexton course
- Service-oriented and reliable personality with experience in a host role
- Good German skills in spoken and written form as well as Microsoft Office user knowledge
- Willingness to work on Mondays and on weekends, evenings, and public holidays
- Preferably a member of a national church
- Residence in the city of Zurich, ideally in district 7 or 8
