The Institute of Tissue Medicine and Pathology at the University of Bern is the academic diagnostic service provider for clinics and referrers in the canton of Bern. We are characterized by a high level of innovation, optimized process workflows, and a future-oriented training concept.
To complement our medical team in the Department of Clinical Pathology, we are looking for a specialist FMH pathologist as soon as possible or by arrangement: Training position to obtain the focus in cytopathology 80-100%
This position is aimed at physicians with a completed specialist title in pathology who want to work in the field of cytology. We want to gain you as a sustainable reinforcement of our cytology team. The training in cytology can be completed entirely with us or, if the focus has already been acquired, can be further deepened in a targeted manner.
Your tasks:
After achieving the focus in cytology, you will also be active in the fields of clinical pathology, and if desired, also in histopathology. You will support the specialist physicians in diagnostic work as well as in interdisciplinary tumor boards.
Further tasks include:
- Involvement in student teaching with structured supervision and coaching
- Supervision and training of assistant physicians
- Participation in research projects, if desired
- Prospectively: Taking on responsibility within the cytology team
What you bring:
- Strong interest in cytology and the motivation to specialize in this field in the long term
- Specialist title in pathology (FMH or equivalent recognition by MEBEKO)
- You feel ready to shape the future of the pathology field together with us in terms of digitalization, molecular methods, and its increasingly demanding clinical orientation
- Independent, responsible, and team-oriented personality
- Very good German skills in spoken and written form (at least level B2)
